Factors Affecting Cold Hardening of CNC Machining Parts

We need to ensure accuracy and stability of machine tools as well as accuracy of tools and fixtures so as to process and manufacture precision parts. In order to get precise surfaces of the processing parts, we need the help of ideal processing principles and precision forming movements. However, in the actual work, the precise effect of CNC machining process is difficult to achieve. We have to optimize cutting conditions to forecast the surface roughness we are going to get, finally achieving the effects of ultra-precision turning. Through the research on the analytical model theory of factors influencing the external roughness, we can further study machine tools, the unit parts, the cutting tools, the cutting mechanisms and the cutting processes.

Junying, CNC machining parts manufacturer, analyzes that there are many factors that affect the qualities of machining appearances, such as machinability of the materials, kinematic accuracy of the spindles and slide carriages, natural oscillation and vibration isolation, cutting tools and cooling, cutting parameters environmental conditions, etc. There are great gaps between the ideal values and actual values. If we only pursuit the theories of accuracy, the processing efficiency will be seriously affected, resulting in failing to achieve the expected economic benefits.

There are three factors affecting cold hardening of CNC metal parts
1. Materials: Materials have small hardness and the greater the plasticity of the material is, the more serious the cold hardening will be.

2. Shapes of cutting tools: Abrasion loss of cutting tools' rake angles, cutting edge fillets and backs have a great impact on cold hardening layers. When the abrasion loss of rake angles, cutting edges and backs increases, depth and hardness of cold hardening layer also increase.

3. Cutting conditions of CNC machining parts: Changes of cutting speeds and feed rates have a great influence on cold hardening. When the contact time between cutting tools and precision parts is short, the plasticity will be small and hardened layers and hardness will reduce. With the increasing of feed rates, the plasticity and surface cold hardening also increase.
